PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

Robert M. Lipshutz, Esquire has a growing practice in collection law. He has represented corporations, professional practices and small businesses in courts throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He has close referral relationships with excellent attorneys in neighboring states.

Mr. Lipshutz was born, raised and educated in Philadelphia, graduating from Central High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the Johns Hopkins University and a Juris Doctor degree from the New York University School of Law.

Mr. Lipshutz was an Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia for nine years, prosecuting violent crime and political corruption. He lectured for the National College of District Attorneys and wrote several training manuals for prosecutors. He had several years of experience as a criminal defense attorney.

He has represented plaintiffs and defendants in accident cases since 1977. As plaintiff’s counsel, he has represented thousands of individuals through intake, medical monitoring, settlement negotiations, litigation, arbitration and trial. His case load has included motor vehicle, first-party benefit, slip and fall, professional malpractice, worker’s compensation, Social Security disability and Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Act cases. As defense counsel, he has handled a similar range of cases, representing clients as diverse as Avis and the American Independent Insurance Company.

Mr. Lipshutz has litigated cases in Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties. He has litigated in Superior Court, the Commonwealth Court and the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He has practiced in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He is a member of the bar of the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Lipshutz is the author of Pennsylvania Personal Injury Complaints/FAST, West’s Desktop Practice Systems (1994), the comprehensive text of personal injury pleading in Pennsylvania. Used in every county in the state, it is the definitive drafting tool for both plaintiff and defense counsel.

Mr. Lipshutz is a member of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations and Trial Lawyers Associations. He was secretary of the Criminal Justice Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association for two years.
